Dzifa Gomashie Charges Creative Arts Delegation Ahead India Festival

The Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has urged a 20-member creative arts delegation travelling to India for a training programme and cultural festival to seize the opportunity to learn, excel and represent Ghana with distinction.
The delegation, made up of officials from the Ministry, a cultural troupe, artisans, artistes and traders, is participating in the programme as part of efforts to strengthen skills development and international cultural exchange. Addressing the group ahead of their departure, the Minister described the initiative as a rare opportunity, noting that it would be the last cohort to benefit from the training arrangement in its current form.
“This is not an ordinary trip. The best way to show your appreciation is to be in great demand, learn as much as you can, and offer help where it is needed and appreciated,” Ms Gomashie said.
Drawing from her personal experience, the Minister encouraged the delegation to approach the programme with humility and openness, stressing that sharing knowledge and skills enhances professional value rather than diminishing it. She urged participants to observe global best practices and apply lessons learned to strengthen Ghana’s creative arts sector upon their return.
Ms Gomashie expressed confidence in the delegation’s ability to make a positive impact, adding that their conduct and performance would reflect Ghana’s cultural depth and creative potential. “Wherever you find yourselves, remember that you are ambassadors of this country. Make Ghana proud, and make your hosts proud too,” she said.
The Minister also commended the Government of India for its continued support to Ghana’s tourism, culture and creative arts sector, describing the partnership as vital to capacity building and the strengthening of cultural ties between the two countries. She noted that although she has not personally visited India, she looked forward to hearing detailed accounts of the delegation’s experiences on their return.
The Indian High Commissioner to Ghana, Manish Gupta, who joined the engagement, reaffirmed India’s commitment to cultural cooperation and exchange. He said the festival, one of India’s largest cultural events, would provide a major platform for showcasing Ghana’s rich heritage to a global audience.
The training programme forms part of the Ministry’s broader strategy to develop human capital, enhance international exposure and position Ghana’s creative professionals competitively on the global stage.
