CLOGSAG threatens strike over controversial staff transfers at Assin North

The Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG) has threatened industrial action after the Assin North District Assembly in the Central Region requested the immediate transfer of the District Coordinating Director and the District Procurement Officer.
In a statement on Monday, CLOGSAG described the Assembly’s resolution, outlined in a letter dated January 22, 2026, as “direct political interference” in the Local Government Service and a violation of standard transfer procedures.
The union said it is closely monitoring the situation and warned that if the work environment becomes unsafe, members may be instructed to stay at home.
CLOGSAG represents civil and local government staff across Ghana and emphasized the need to protect staff from political influence in administrative matters.
No response has been issued by the Assin North District Assembly regarding the association’s warning.
