KATH Pledges to Complete Stalled Projects Before Starting New Ones

The management of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) has announced a firm decision to halt the initiation of new projects until all ongoing and stalled infrastructure developments are completed.
The hospital is currently grappling with several long-standing, unfinished projects, including the Doctors’ Office Complex, which dates back to 1992, the Sickle Cell Treatment Centre, and the Psychiatric Centre.
Speaking at a consultative forum in Kumasi with consultants and senior specialists on Thursday, January 22, the Chief Executive Officer of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Dr. Paa Kwesi Baidoo, outlined the measures being taken to ensure the timely completion of these projects.
“When you go to the hospital, many projects have been abandoned. As management, and for me as CEO, I have resolved that we are not starting any new project until we complete the abandoned ones,” Dr. Baidoo said.
He emphasized that the hospital’s focus would be on completing these stalled developments to enhance service delivery and improve patient care.
Dr. Baidoo made an exception for a new project overseen by President John Dramani Mahama, noting that it falls outside his management purview.
“But as the CEO, I have resolved that we will complete most of these projects,” he added.
The decision underscores KATH’s commitment to prudent project management and efficient utilization of resources, ensuring that incomplete infrastructure does not continue to hinder operations.
Hospital staff and stakeholders are optimistic that this renewed focus on completing existing projects will lead to improved healthcare facilities and services for patients across the region.
