All HR Practitioners Must Register with CIHRM Before Practising

The Chartered Institute of Human Resource Management, Ghana (CIHRM), has issued a public notice urging all human resource practitioners, consultants, freelancers and service providers operating in the country to register with the Institute and ensure they are in good standing before practising.
According to the statement, the practice of human resource management and human resource development in Ghana is regulated by the Chartered Institute of Human Resource Management, Ghana Act, 2020 (Act 1020).
The Chief Executive Officer of CIHRM, Dr. Francis Eduku, therefore called on all HR practitioners, HR consultants and service providers to comply fully with the provisions of the Act.
Dr. Eduku explained that under the Chartered Institute of Human Resource Management, Ghana Regulations, 2023 (L.I. 2472), the practice of human resource management includes performing HR roles in organisations as an occupation, providing tuition for HR professional examinations, organising continuing professional development programmes for practitioners, offering HR management solutions, outsourcing personnel, and providing other HR-related services.
He further referenced Section 18 of Act 1020, which states that a person shall not practise as a human resource management practitioner or provide tuition for professional examinations in human resource management unless that person is registered as a member of the Institute.
The statement emphasised that CIHRM is actively enforcing its mandate and requires all HRM practitioners, HR consultants, HR freelancers and other HR service or solution providers to register with the Institute and remain in good standing.
The statement further warned that failure to comply with these legal requirements is considered an offense under the law. The Institute urged all organisations, institutions and companies operating in Ghana to ensure that their human resource personnel and service providers adhere strictly to the provisions of the Act, highlighting the importance of compliance for the proper regulation and professionalisation of HR practice nationwide.
