GLICO Health Insurance Donates GH¢100,000 to Support Pediatric Cancer Care at KBTH

GLICO Health Insurance Limited has strengthened its commitment to pediatric cancer care with a GH¢100,000 donation to Lifeline for Childhood Cancer Ghana, supporting the Paediatric Oncology Unit of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH).
The donation, made in Accra, builds on the company’s ongoing efforts to support childhood cancer treatment and advocacy. It follows a previous GH¢200,000 contribution to the same cause in 2024.
Through this support, GLICO Health Insurance aims to ease the financial burden on families and improve access to life-saving treatment for children battling cancer.
Speaking at the presentation, Maame Afriyie Boachie Nelson, CEO of GLICO Health Insurance, said the company’s support is motivated by a strong belief in equity and compassion in healthcare.
“Our continued support for Lifeline for Childhood Cancer Ghana underscores our belief that every child deserves a fair chance at life, regardless of financial circumstances,” she said, adding that the donation reflects the company’s long-term commitment to strengthening pediatric cancer care.
Mrs. Nelson emphasized that public-private partnerships are critical to improving healthcare delivery and expanding access to essential services nationwide.
Edward Forkuo Kyei, CEO of the GLICO Group, described insurance as a social product that benefits everyone—not just through premiums but also through corporate social responsibility. He explained that the group’s CSR initiatives focus on health, education and sports, with health being a top priority that aligns with GLICO Health Insurance’s services.
He highlighted that pediatric oncology requires significant support beyond what families or the state can provide alone. “This is how organizations like GLICO Health Insurance step in to help share the burden collectively,” he said.
Akua Sarpong, Executive Director of Lifeline for Childhood Cancer Ghana, expressed gratitude to GLICO for the donation, noting that contributions like this ensure children receive uninterrupted treatment and provide hope to many families.
The GH¢100,000 donation caps a year of impactful community engagement by GLICO Health Insurance. Looking ahead to 2026, the company reaffirms its commitment to sustainable healthcare interventions that enhance lives and strengthen Ghana’s healthcare system.
GLICO Health Insurance Limited reiterated its support for Korle Bu Teaching Hospital and Lifeline for Childhood Cancer Ghana, emphasizing its ongoing dedication to improving the health and well-being of Ghanaians.
