FC Samartex 1996 End Losing Run with Narrow Win Over Heart of Lions

FC Samartex 1996 bounced back from recent setbacks with a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Heart of Lions in a Ghana Premier League clash played at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena on Sunday, restoring belief and momentum to their campaign.

Buoyed by home support, the Timber Giants started the encounter with confidence and purpose, asserting control in midfield and dictating the tempo for much of the first half. Their positive approach paid dividends in the 39th minute, when Emmanuel Mamah produced the decisive moment of quality, calmly finding the back of the net to hand Samartex a crucial lead heading into the break.

The goal crowned a dominant first-half display by the hosts, who pressed aggressively and limited Heart of Lions’ attacking options. Samartex’s compact shape and quick ball circulation made it difficult for the visitors to settle into any rhythm before halftime.

After the restart, Heart of Lions showed greater urgency as they searched for an equaliser. The Kpando-based side pushed numbers forward and attempted to raise the intensity, but they struggled to rediscover the attacking spark that had earlier kept them firmly in the title conversation this season. Samartex’s defence, well-organised and disciplined, absorbed the pressure and denied Lions any clear-cut scoring opportunities.

As the match progressed, Samartex managed the game intelligently, slowing play when necessary and maintaining their defensive structure to protect their narrow advantage. Their composure in the closing stages ensured that Mamah’s first-half strike proved sufficient to secure all three points.

The victory lifts FC Samartex 1996 to sixth place on the league table with 24 points, keeping them firmly in contention as the season gathers momentum. For Heart of Lions, however, the defeat compounds a challenging run of form, marking back-to-back losses and seeing them slip out of the top six to seventh position with 23 points.

Both sides will now turn their attention to their upcoming fixtures, with Samartex eager to build on this result and Heart of Lions seeking a swift response to halt their recent slide.
