ECG Assures Stable Power Supply During Christmas

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has assured consumers of a stable and reliable power supply throughout the Christmas season, as part of renewed efforts to meet increased electricity demand during the Yuletide.
Speaking in an interview, the Director of Communications of the Electricity Company of Ghana, William Boateng, said the company had rolled out a comprehensive operational plan to ensure uninterrupted service delivery across its operational areas.
According to him, ECG is deploying a three-pronged strategy that includes a 24-hour standby service, the activation of sub-transmission teams, and the continuous operation of fault-servicing teams throughout the holidays.
M.r Boateng explained that the initiative forms part of ECG’s commitment to improving efficiency and customer satisfaction, especially during periods of high power consumption. He said system reliability teams would be on constant duty to monitor power networks and promptly identify and resolve faults such as power trippings within local distribution areas.
He further stated that the sub-transmission teams would focus on managing the high-voltage network to address pressure from increased demand on transmission infrastructure, while fault-servicing teams would respond swiftly to reported outages and technical challenges to ensure sustained power supply. “We have activated the full service chain from supply to customer service to guarantee non-stop and efficient electricity delivery during this Christmas period and beyond,” Mr. Boateng stated.
He encouraged customers to promptly report faults through ECG’s emergency call centres, official social media platforms, and the ECG mobile application, assuring that all complaints would receive real-time responses. “Our sub-transmission and fault response teams will be working full-time without breaks to ensure that any disruption is addressed promptly.”
Mr. Boateng also cautioned the public to be vigilant against scammers, particularly as ECG continues its transition to digital platforms. He warned that fraudsters had been exploiting the period to solicit payments through mobile money, stressing that ECG does not accept payments via mobile money channels. “The only approved payment method for individual customers is through the ECG App. No staff member is authorised to receive payments on behalf of the company,” he emphasised.
He urged customers to follow ECG’s official social media handles for timely updates and verified information throughout the festive season.
