Dora Francisca Edu Buandoh Officially Assumes Role as Ghana’s High Commissioner to Canada

Her Excellency Dora Francisca Edu Buandoh has formally assumed her role as Ghana’s High Commissioner to Canada, following the presentation of her Letters of Credence at Rideau Hall in Ottawa on Wednesday, 25th November 2025. The credentials were received by Justice Suzanne Côté, Deputy Governor General of Canada, on behalf of the Right Honourable May J. Simon, Governor General of Canada. The ceremony also included the submission of Letters of Recall for her predecessor, marking the official handover and reinforcing Ghana’s dedication to maintaining and deepening diplomatic engagement with Canada.
High Commissioner Edu Buandoh’s accreditation marks the beginning of a strategic mandate aimed at advancing Ghana’s economic, cultural, and diplomatic priorities abroad. Central to her mission is promoting investment in sectors critical to Ghana’s development, including energy, mining, agriculture, and technology, while creating new avenues for Ghanaian exports to thrive in the Canadian market.
Beyond economic diplomacy, High Commissioner Edu Buandoh intends to strengthen educational and cultural partnerships between the two nations, fostering meaningful people-to-people connections and encouraging mutual understanding. She will actively engage with Canadian institutions and participate in multilateral organizations based in Ottawa, ensuring Ghana’s perspectives are represented in discussions on global issues such as peace, democracy, climate resilience, and sustainable development.
The High Commissioner also plans to work closely with the Ghanaian diaspora in Canada, leveraging their expertise and networks to support development initiatives back home while promoting Ghana’s rich cultural heritage. Her tenure is expected to enhance collaboration on research, innovation, and knowledge exchange, further consolidating Ghana’s image as a strategic partner in the region.
The official presentation of the Letters of Credence signals a new chapter in Ghana–Canada relations, paving the way for stronger cooperation, deeper trust, and a shared vision for sustainable growth and mutual prosperity.
