Ghana FA to keep faith in Otto Addo despite missing AFCON 2025

Ghana coach Otto Addo is expected to retain his position as Black Stars trainer despite failing to lead the former African champions to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Ghana Football Association Executive Council is set to support him to continue his job ahead of a crucial meeting on Wednesday.
Addo, who signed a 34-month contract earlier this year, has faced a wave of public discontent following a dismal AFCON qualifying campaign.
Ghana failed to secure a single win in six games, losing three and scoring only three goals. The shocking failure to qualify marks the first time since 2004 that the Black Stars will miss Africa’s premier football tournament.
However, the GFA appears to be standing by the 49-year-old coach, who is in his second stint with the national team. Addo’s record of just two wins in 10 games has drawn heavy scrutiny, but GFA insiders believe he is the right man to guide Ghana’s quest for redemption.
Sources indicate the Executive Council’s priority is World Cup qualification. With Ghana currently joint top of their group, Addo’s task will be to lead the team to the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The GFA views this as an opportunity to restore faith in the national team.
Addo’s ability to convince Ghanaians of his suitability for the role hinges on his performance in the coming months. Wednesday’s meeting is expected to solidify the GFA’s public support for the embattled coach.
