Ghud Park Unveils ‘Ghud Santa’ to Support Vulnerable Kids

Ghud Park, in partnership with the Father Campbell SVD Foundation, Miracle Child Foundation, and several community-focused organisations, has launched a new festive initiative aimed at bringing Christmas cheer to vulnerable and street-connected children across Accra. The initiative, known as the Ghud Santa Program, seeks to mobilise individuals, families, and organisations to support children who otherwise may not experience the joy and warmth of the holiday season.
The programme, officially unveiled in Accra, is structured around a four-part engagement process that connects children’s Christmas wishes with people willing to fulfil them. The first phase, “Letters to Santa,” invites children from underserved communities to write down heartfelt wishes for gifts they would love to receive this year. These letters capture the hopes and dreams of children who often go unnoticed during festive celebrations.
The second phase focuses on public amplification, where partner radio stations, influencers, and community advocates help spread awareness about the initiative. By leveraging media and social networks, the organisers hope to generate widespread community participation and encourage more people to join the effort.
A major highlight of the programme is the Adoption Day at Ghud Park, scheduled for Wednesday, December 10, 2025, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. During this event, volunteers and members of the public will gather to read through the children’s letters and “adopt” specific wishes by committing to buy the selected gifts. Organisers say this moment of connection between volunteers and the children’s personal stories is central to fostering empathy and reinforcing a spirit of giving.
The final stage, Presentation Day, will take place on Thursday, December 25, 2025, with volunteers expected to present their purchased gifts by December 24. The Christmas Day event will be held at Ghud Park, where the gifts will be distributed in a celebratory atmosphere filled with music, activities, and interactions that allow the children to feel included and appreciated.
Speaking on the launch, Ing. Kenneth Owusu-Akyaw, Park President of Ghud Park, expressed the organisation’s enthusiasm about the initiative. He noted that the program reflects the true meaning of Christmas love, generosity, and community. “Christmas is about giving, caring, and community. Through the Ghud Santa Program, we want every child to feel seen, loved, and celebrated. Together, we can make this season truly magical,” he said.
Ghud Park, located at the Accra Mall, has quickly become one of the city’s most vibrant recreational and cultural venues. Within just 18 months of opening, the park has hosted more than 35 concerts, events, and day parties, earning a reputation as a hub for youth engagement, entertainment, and community-building. Its partnership-driven approach has made it a natural home for initiatives such as the Ghud Santa Program, which combine social impact with community participation.
The organisers say they expect strong turnout and support from the public, noting that the program aligns with a broader push to ensure that no child is left out of the festive celebrations. With the initiative now underway, Ghud Park and its partners hope to turn this year’s Christmas into a season of hope and joy for thousands of children who need it the most.
