Sulemana warns: South Korea has evolved

Atalanta forward Kamaldeen Sulemana has cautioned his Black Stars teammates and the technical team to be wary of South Korea ahead of their friendly match in Seoul today. The tricky playmaker says the South Korean side Ghana defeated at the 2022 World Cup has evolved significantly, presenting a tougher opposition in today’s matchup.
He believes the opposition has improved and will be eager to avenge their 3-2 loss in Qatar. Ghana enters the match seeking a strong response after last week’s 2-0 defeat to Japan, in the absence of several key players including Thomas Partey and Jordan Ayew.
Otto Addo’s men also hope to close the November international window on a positive note as they build towards next year’s World Cup. Sulemana, who is likely to start, stressed that the current Korean squad presents new dynamics compared to the team they faced two years ago.
”It’s a different team than we played against a few years ago,” he said ahead of the encounter. He acknowledged the quality within Myung-bo Hong’s side but insisted the Black Stars retain the talent to secure a result.
”I know they also have different players. It’s going to be a tough game for us, but I also think we can beat them,” he noted. “I think we’ve got the quality to beat them. We are going to try to do that. We are very excited to be here,” he added.
The Black Stars wil round off their final preparations for 2025 and shift focus toward next year’s World Cup campaign.
