“Roots & Routes” host Dr. Nii Ayi Solomon honoured at 2025 National Tourism Awards

The host of the cultural and tourism program “Roots & Routes” on ZED FM, Dr. Nii Ayi Solomon, has been honoured at the 2025 National Tourism Awards as Tourism Media Personality (Gt Accra Region) for his outstanding contribution to the promotion of Ghana’s heritage and tourism sector.
The award is widely seen as a strong affirmation of the importance of cultural storytelling in shaping national identity and strengthening the country’s tourism appeal. It also highlights the growing role of the media in advancing public appreciation of Ghana’s diverse cultural traditions.
Though launched only a few months ago, “Roots & Routes” has quickly distinguished itself as more than a radio show. It has become an influential platform for showcasing the nation’s tourism and hospitality offerings and a trusted source of information and inspiration for listeners interested in exploring Ghana’s many attractions.
The programme’s mission is to boost domestic tourism by educating audiences and spotlighting hidden treasures and adventurous destinations across all regions. Through his engaging storytelling, Dr. Solomon encourages listeners to see beyond physical sites and appreciate the histories, customs, and people that give each location its unique cultural identity.
His work is credited with helping bridge the gap between cultural memory and contemporary engagement, ensuring that Ghana’s heritage remains vibrant and relevant. Organisers of the awards say his contribution demonstrates that effective tourism promotion begins with education and public awareness.
Dr. Solomon’s recognition is expected to motivate other media practitioners to play a more active role in preserving and promoting the country’s cultural heritage.
As Ghana celebrates his achievement, the honour also underscores a broader truth: behind every landmark, tradition, and festival lies a story that shapes how the nation presents itself to the world, a story “Roots & Routes” continues to tell with passion and purpose.
