Honesty Is the Bedrock of Trust in Relationships — Coach Advises

By: Solomon Nartey Tetteh

Relationship Coach Daniel Lamptey has advised individuals to prioritize personal honesty as the foundation for building trust and integrity in relationships.

Speaking on the Business Breakfast on Zed 101.9 FM, Mr. Lamptey stressed that many relationship challenges stem from people’s inability to be truthful with themselves before engaging with others.

“When it comes to honest dealings with people, you have to be honest with yourself in the first place. Unfortunately, many of us haven’t been honest with ourselves, and that is the main reason we end up lying and becoming less open with others,” he said.

Mr. Lamptey explained that dishonesty often sets off a cycle of deceit that can be difficult to escape. “The truth is always one. Once you lie the first time, you’ll always have to remember what you said earlier. You keep lying to defend the first lie, and it becomes a habit,” he noted.

He encouraged individuals to let integrity guide their relationships and avoid entering partnerships out of convenience or pretense. “If you don’t like someone, don’t start a relationship with them. When you do it for convenience, you end up lying midway through the relationship because you discover things you weren’t truthful about from the start,” he cautioned.

According to the relationship coach, a lack of honesty breeds mistrust and unnecessary conflict. “Once you are not honest, even simple issues become complicated because you’re always covering up something,” he observed.

He urged individuals to embrace honesty as a lifestyle, not just a moral choice. “Integrity should lead your relationships. When you are truthful with yourself, being honest with others becomes natural and that is the key to lasting, healthy relationships,” he emphasized.
