‎By Victor Kwawu

‎Ghana’s national U‑15 boys’ team has assembled in Hohoe on Monday evening, 10 November, to commence preparations for the 2025 CAF African Schools Football Championship WAFU‑B qualifiers in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. A 40‑player provisional squad has been invited to camp as part of Ghana’s build‑up to the competition. The group will undergo intensive training and assessment sessions in Hohoe, with the final list expected to be trimmed before the team departs for the sub‑regional tournament.

‎Ghana will compete in both the boys’ and girls’ categories of the WAFU‑B qualifiers, scheduled for 29 November to 4 December 2025. Organised by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), the African Schools Football Championship is a flagship youth tournament designed to promote grassroots development and showcase emerging football talent across the continent. The WAFU‑B zone, one of Africa’s most competitive regions, features traditional football powerhouses such as Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire, Togo, Benin, Niger and hosts Burkina Faso.

‎Ghana heads into this year’s qualifiers with renewed confidence, buoyed by its impressive performance in the previous edition. The Ghanaian contingent excelled at both zonal and continental levels: the girls’ team emerged champions at the main tournament hosted at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, while the boys’ team clinched third place. The upcoming qualifiers in Ouagadougou present another opportunity for Ghana’s next generation of footballers to display their talent, uphold the nation’s proud footballing tradition, and secure qualification to the CAF African Schools Football Championship continental finals.
