Asantehene To Hold Final Mediation Session In Bawku Chieftaincy Dispute

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, will hold what is expected to be the final session of his mediation in the protracted Bawku chieftaincy conflict on November 30 and December 1, 2025.
In a press release signed by Chief of Staff Kofi Badu, the Palace expressed appreciation for the constructive engagement shown by both factions throughout the mediation process. His Majesty commended the parties for their positive approach and urged all stakeholders to refrain from actions that could derail progress toward a lasting resolution.
“His Majesty praises both sides for their positive approach to the mediation so far and appeals to all concerned to avoid any actions likely to affect the progress towards a lasting solution to the Bawku conflict,” the statement read.
The Bawku chieftaincy dispute has long been a source of tension in the Upper East Region, with periodic outbreaks of violence and deep-rooted divisions. Otumfuo’s involvement has been widely regarded as a significant step toward peace, given his stature and experience in conflict resolution.
