Man Arrested for Allegedly Stabbing Brother to Death

The Bono Regional Police Command has arrested a 43-year-old man, Yaw Owusu, popularly known as “Angolo,” for allegedly stabbing his younger brother to death during a misunderstanding at Awerempe, a suburb of the Berekum West Municipality in the Bono Region.
According to police sources, the tragic incident occurred on Friday, November 7, 2025, around 10:30 a.m., when a heated argument broke out between the suspect and his 25-year-old brother, Bright Abotsi.
In the course of the altercation, Yaw Owusu reportedly stabbed Bright in the chest with a knife.
The victim was rushed to the Holy Family Hospital in Berekum for medical attention but was pronounced dead on arrival by the medical officer on duty.
Preliminary police investigations indicate that the suspect attempted to flee the scene after the incident but was swiftly apprehended by officers.
At the hospital, the body of the deceased was found lying on a stretcher in blood-soaked boxer shorts, with a deep wound on the right side of the upper chest. The remains have since been deposited at the hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.
The suspect, Yaw Owusu, is currently in police custody and will be arraigned before court upon completion of investigations.
Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, the Bono Regional Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the arrest and assured the public that the Police will ensure justice is served.
