Renew your Licenses Before Nov. 28 – ORC orders Insolvency Practitioners

The Office of the Registrar of Companies (ORC) has set November 28, 2025, as the final deadline for all licensed insolvency practitioners to renew their operating licenses or risk losing their right to practice.
The regulatory directive, anchored in Sections 153(3)(a) and 161(1) of the Corporate Insolvency and Restructuring Act, 2020 (Act 1015), underscores the government’s commitment to strengthening oversight, ensuring professional accountability, and maintaining investor confidence in Ghana’s business recovery and restructuring ecosystem.
In a statement signed by Mr. Jones Nathaniel Ansah, Head of the Insolvency and Liquidation Services Directorate, the ORC reminded practitioners that holding a valid license is a “non-negotiable legal requirement” for operating within Ghana’s insolvency and restructuring sector.
“A valid license is essential for practitioners to remain in good regulatory standing and lawfully offer insolvency and restructuring services,” the statement emphasized.
The ORC cautioned that failure to comply with the renewal directive will result in automatic revocation of licenses and removal from the national registry of approved insolvency professionals. The move, according to the Registrar, is part of a broader agenda to raise professional standards, enhance public trust, and protect the interests of creditors, debtors, and other stakeholders within the business recovery ecosystem.
Observers say the renewed focus on compliance is timely, as the country witnesses an uptick in corporate restructuring and liquidation cases following Ghana’s economic adjustment and post-crisis recovery efforts.
By enforcing strict licensing compliance, the ORC aims to weed out unqualified or inactive practitioners, ensuring that only competent professionals manage insolvency processes that often involve sensitive financial disclosures and high-stakes negotiations. The directive also supports the government’s wider drive toward corporate transparency and ethical governance across all regulated sectors.
