Police Rescue Trafficked Nigerian Teenager in Tarkwa

The Western Central Regional Police have successfully rescued a 15-year-old Nigerian girl who was trafficked to Tarkwa for sexual exploitation. Joy Ogbonna, a 25-year-old woman, has been arrested and is currently in police custody for her alleged involvement in the trafficking case.
The victim’s father, Ogbonno Onuigbo, reported his daughter missing after she disappeared from Nigeria in October 2025. The case gained momentum when the girl managed to call her father on October 24th, revealing that she had been trafficked to Ghana and subjected to abuse.
Police investigations uncovered that the teenager was initially lured from Enugu to Lagos with a false job offer. She was then handed over to Ogbonna, who allegedly transported her across the border into Ghana.
Authorities say the suspect confined the girl in a room, forced her into sex work, and collected the earnings from her exploitation. A medical examination confirmed that the victim is five weeks pregnant.
The police are continuing their investigations and are now seeking to apprehend an accomplice named Golden Blessing, who is believed to still be in Nigeria.
