GTA’s Kofi Atta Kakra Kusi honoured for promoting Accra Arts & Crafts market

The Deputy Director in charge of Corporate Affairs at the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Kofi Atta Kakra Kusi, has been honoured for his exceptional support and contribution to the international edition of the Accra Arts and Crafts Market.

The accolade was conferred by the management of the Accra Arts and Crafts Market, led by Manager Adnan Mohammed and Deputy Manager Wango Abdul Karimu.

The recognition took place during a Gala and Awards Night on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at the W. E. B. Du Bois Centre for Pan-African Culture in Cantonments.

The event marked the successful conclusion of the 10-day market fair, which ran from October 17 to 26, 2025.

Mr. Kusi received a citation acknowledging his pivotal role in enhancing the event’s visibility through marketing and public relations efforts, and for fostering strategic partnerships.

His professional journey is marked by academic depth and a strong dedication to national development. An alumnus of Prempeh College, he holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the University of Ghana, Legon, a Master of Arts in Public Relations from the Ghana Institute of Journalism (now UNIMAC-GIJ) in 2020, and an MBA in Marketing from the Methodist University College Ghana in 2022.

He also holds a Certificate in Tourism and Hospitality Management from the University of Johannesburg, South Africa.

Mr Kusi’s commitment to Ghana’s tourism sector spans over a decade, beginning as Board Secretary to the GTA Board of Directors from 2010 to 2014. He later served as Special Assistant to the late CEO, Mr. Charles Osei Bonsu, from 2014 to 2017.

His ascent within the GTA saw him appointed Principal Corporate Affairs Officer in 2019, followed by elevations to Deputy Director, Domestic Marketing in early 2024, and finally to Deputy Director in charge of Corporate Affairs in February 2025.

Known for his strong Pan-African and nationalistic values, Mr Kusi has played a key role in numerous national tourism committees and programmes, significantly contributing to the promotion of Ghana’s rich tourism landscape.

The international edition of the Accra Arts and Crafts Market, now in its second year but building on eight years of local operation, served as a vibrant 10-day celebration of African creativity, culture, and craftsmanship.

The market fair promoted Ghanaian products and supported small and medium-sized entrepreneurs in exporting their goods. Participating countries included Nigeria, Togo, Benin, Burkina Faso, and Niger, creating a platform for cross-cultural exchange.

Under the theme, “From Local Hands to the Global Stage,” the event brought together artisans, designers, and creators to showcase an extensive array of handmade products, including fashion, art, crafts, décor, and food.
