Ghana has talented football players – Ex-Arsenal star Eddie Nketiah

Former Arsenal player Eddie Nketiah, who currently plays for Crystal Palace in the English Premier League, has praised Ghana for its wealth of talented footballers.
The England international, who is reportedly considering switching his nationality to represent Ghana at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, made the remarks during his acceptance speech at the Best of Africa Awards held in London on Sunday, October 26.
“Ghana has a lot of amazing people, talented artists, talented footballers, and gifted individuals in general. I believe Ghana is slightly ahead of many African countries,” Nketiah said. During his speech, he celebrated Ghana’s talent and cultural influence, describing the country as one of Africa’s most exceptional.
Nketiah, who received an award recognising his growing impact in the community, used the occasion to highlight Ghana’s achievements and contributions on the continental stage. His comments have further fuelled speculation about a possible nationality switch, although the 25-year-old striker remains non-committal.
Eddie Nketiah has represented England at senior level but remains a topic of interest in Ghana as the Black Stars prepare for the 2026 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by Mexico, Canada, and the United States.
This season, Nketiah has played five matches for Crystal Palace in the Premier League, scoring one goal. Ghana will discover its group opponents for the 2026 World Cup on December 5, when the official draw takes place.
