BoG raises biennial forex bureau licence renewal fee to GH¢2,000

The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has increased the biennial licence renewal fee for all licensed Foreign Exchange Bureaux (FEBs) nationwide from GHS800 to GHS2,000.

According to a statement from the Central Bank, the adjustment is part of ongoing reforms to enhance the Bank’s regulatory oversight and ensure the long-term sustainability of foreign exchange operations.

The new fee is effective immediately and applies to all FEBs across the country.

“The revision is part of ongoing reforms to strengthen the regulatory oversight of the Bank of Ghana and to ensure sustainability of operations in the sector,” the statement said.

The Central Bank reminded operators that licence renewal must occur biennially, at least two months before the current licence expires.

This requirement follows Section 10 of the Foreign Exchange Act, 2006 (Act 723) and Paragraph 8 of Bank of Ghana Notice No. BG/GOV/SEC/2003/2 under the Revised Forex Bureau Regulations.

Operators needing clarification or more information are advised to contact the Licensing and Approval Office at the Bank of Ghana’s Other Financial Institutions Supervision Department.
