Semenyo can start for any top Premier League club – Agbonlahor

Antoine Semenyo’s consistent form in the Premier League continues to impress pundits, coaches, and former players. Former Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor is the latest to praise the Ghanaian winger.
Agbonlahor believes Semenyo is good enough to start for any of the Premier League’s elite clubs, hailing the Bournemouth star as one of the division’s most complete wingers this season. Semenyo’s performances have been a defining story of the 2025/26 campaign.
The 25-year-old has registered six goals and three assists in the Premier League so far, a tally surpassed only by Manchester City’s Erling Haaland. He has been central to Bournemouth’s best-ever start to a top-flight season.
Semenyo’s displays have reignited transfer interest from several leading clubs, despite his recent contract extension at the Vitality Stadium. Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United held talks with the Ghana international during the summer before he opted to remain at Bournemouth. Liverpool’s sporting director, Richard Hughes, who signed him from Bristol City for £10.5 million in January 2023, is also reported to be an admirer.
Agbonlahor, speaking on talkSPORT, insisted that Semenyo’s blend of pace, strength, and direct attacking play makes him a guaranteed starter across the league’s top sides. “I look at the league table, and name me a team he does not start for on that left-hand side. Name one,” he said. “He is better than [Man City’s Jeremy] Doku. He starts for Arsenal if [Eberechi] Eze plays in that number 10 position. [He is] better than [Gabriel] Martinelli and [Leandro] Trossard. Better than [Cody] Gakpo [at Liverpool]. Starts for Spurs.”
Semenyo’s consistent displays, including a match-winning penalty against Brighton and a stunning free-kick at Leeds, have drawn widespread praise, with teammate Justin Kluivert calling him “world-class.”
Agbonlahor’s co-host, Jamie O’Hara, urged Tottenham to “go all out” for the winger, suggesting he would thrive alongside compatriot Mohammed Kudus.
However, Agbonlahor questioned whether Spurs are “big enough” for a player destined for Champions League football.
