United Bank for Africa (UBA) Ghana Ltd has reported another strong financial performance for the third quarter ending September 2025, reflecting steady growth across all key indicators, robust deposit mobilisation, and disciplined risk management practices.
According to the bank’s unaudited results, gross earnings rose to GHS1.08 billion as of September 2025, up from GHS987.2 million recorded in the same period last year, representing a 9.4 per cent year-on-year increase.
Profit before tax also grew to GHS430.7 million, highlighting UBA Ghana’s ability to sustain profitability despite macroeconomic pressures in the financial sector.
The bank’s total assets increased by 18 per cent, rising from GHS9.58 billion in September 2024 to GHS11.31 billion in September 2025. This reflects the bank’s continued expansion and solid capital position in a highly competitive industry.
Customer deposits also recorded significant growth, increasing by 16 per cent to GHS8.19 billion, compared to GHS7.08 billion in September 2024.
This, according to management, demonstrates customer confidence in UBA Ghana’s trusted brand, strong digital capabilities, and customer-centric approach.
The bank maintained a Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR) of 20.46 per cent, far exceeding the Bank of Ghana’s regulatory minimum. This, coupled with healthy liquidity buffers, reinforces UBA Ghana’s resilience and readiness to support Ghana’s private sector recovery.
Commenting on the performance, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mr Uzoechina Molokwu, attributed the sustained growth to UBA’s innovation-driven strategy and its deep focus on customer satisfaction.
“Our banking solutions continue to be the growth driver for UBA Ghana. Through our customer-first philosophy and innovative solutions such as LEO, Africa’s first AI-powered virtual banker available on WhatsApp, Facebook and other platforms, we are democratising banking and making it more accessible to everyone. Between January and September 2025 alone, the bank signed on over 38,800 new customers, a testament to the trust and relevance of our brand,” Mr Molokwu said.
He highlighted that products such as NextGen, Kiddies and Ruby Accounts continue to enhance the bank’s engagement with the youth, families and women entrepreneurs, while its robust digital channels, including the UBA Mobile App, Internet Banking and the Pan-African Payment and Settlement System (PAPSS), facilitate seamless cross-border payments and trade across Africa.
