LilWin criticises TV stations for abandoning child reality show winners
Popular Kumawood actor Kwadwo Nkansah, widely known as LilWin, has called out some Ghanaian media houses for what he describes as their failure to properly reward and manage winners of child-centred reality shows.
In a video shared on 8 September, the actor expressed disappointment at the way many television stations treat young contestants after the conclusion of their talent-based competitions.
According to him, these children, who often generate huge revenues through voting, are left without any meaningful support once a new season begins.
“Some of these reality shows are now in season 10 and beyond. Look at the amount of money they generate from votes. After a season, these TV houses should keep the winners and give them proper management,” LilWin said.
He suggested that television networks could go a step further by signing winners onto professional record labels, securing ambassadorial deals for them and providing long-term mentorship to enhance their growth.
“This will help the creative arts space in general. It is better than just giving them a small fraction of the money and leaving them to waste,” he emphasised.
LilWin also lamented the financial sacrifices parents make for their children to participate in such shows.
He explained that many mothers invest significant sums to push their children to victory, only for the winners to be “abandoned” while media houses shift attention to a fresh crop of contestants in new seasons.
