Teacher perishes in new Edubiase house fire

A 35-year-old teacher, Theophilus Ofori Amanfo, has died after a devastating fire engulfed his residence at New Edubiase in the Adansi South District of the Ashanti Region on Tuesday, 7 October 2025.

Mr Ofori Amanfo, who was a teacher at the New Edubiase D/A Junior High School ‘B’, reportedly perished in the blaze that completely destroyed his two-bedroom apartment.

Confirming the incident, the Presiding Member of the Adansi South District Assembly, Mr Cosmos Darkwah Amoah, described the tragedy as a shocking loss to the local education community.

“He was recently transferred to the school. We got information that there was a fire at his residence, so we rushed to the place and realised the two-bedroom house had been burnt down,” Mr Amoah recounted.

According to him, personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service and the Ghana Police Service responded promptly to the distress call but were unable to save the teacher, whose body was later retrieved from the scene and conveyed to the morgue.

“The police and fire service were there to take the body to the morgue. The cause of the death is not known. The police are investigating the matter; maybe they will give us feedback soon,” he added.

Preliminary reports indicate that the fire completely razed the structure and its contents.

However, the exact cause of the fire remains unknown, as investigators continue to examine possible electrical faults or other causes.
