By Praisebell Rosemond Larbi

The Judicial Service of Ghana has indefinitely postponed the swearing-in ceremony of newly appointed High Court judges, which was initially scheduled for today, Thursday, 9 October 2025, at the Jubilee House in Accra.

In a circular issued by the newly appointed Judicial Secretary, Musah Ahmed, the Service cited “unforeseen circumstances” as the reason for the postponement, while assuring that a new date will be communicated in due course.

“You are to take notice that due to unforeseen circumstances, the planned swearing-in of newly selected High Court judges scheduled to take place tomorrow, Thursday, 9 October 2025, at the Jubilee House has been postponed indefinitely. A new date will be communicated to you. Any inconvenience is sincerely regretted,” the circular stated.

The notice, which was copied to key state officials including the Acting Chief Justice, the Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, the Secretary to the President and members of the Judicial Council, expressed regret for any inconvenience caused by the abrupt postponement.

The statement further conveyed the Judicial Service’s appreciation and kind regards to all affected judges and stakeholders who had prepared for the ceremony.

Although the Service did not disclose further details regarding the nature of the “unforeseen circumstances,” sources within the judiciary indicated that administrative adjustments were still being finalised to ensure a smooth ceremony when rescheduled.

The Judicial Service also assured the public and all concerned parties that the new date will be promptly announced once arrangements are complete.

“The Service extends its appreciation to all stakeholders for their understanding and cooperation as we work to confirm a new date for the ceremony,” the notice added.
