2026 WCQ: Central African Republic game could be tricky – Asante Twum
Astute sports journalist and communications director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum, has described Ghana’s upcoming World Cup qualifying match against the Central African Republic (CAR) as a potentially tricky encounter.
The Black Stars opened their training camp in Casablanca on Sunday, 5 October, ahead of the clash, with many top players such as Jordan Ayew, Mohammed Kudus, Kwasi Sibo and Antoine Semenyo among those currently in camp.
The Black Stars will travel to the Stade d’Honneur de Meknes on Wednesday, 8 October 2025, for their Matchday 9 fixture in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, with kick-off slated for 16:00 GMT.
Asante Twum emphasised the need for caution while remaining focused on securing a positive result.
“The game against the Central African Republic (CAR) will be a tricky one, but we do not want to experience what happened in Chad again, so we must do everything possible to win this game,” he said.
Mr Twum also highlighted the importance of setting up a decisive final match against Comoros in Accra.
“CAR are fighting for nothing, and that is why it is tricky. We must get this done to make the final game against Comoros a crowning moment for the team and the entire country,” he added.
Ghana will return to host Comoros on Sunday, 12 October 2025, at the Accra Sports Stadium on Matchday 10 to conclude the qualifiers.
