Ghana–Japan Business & Investment Forum to take place Jan 2026

Ghana will host a high-profile Ghana–Japan Business and Investment Forum in January 2026 as part of a landmark visit by a 50-member Japanese business delegation.

The forum is expected to deepen bilateral economic ties, with engagements spanning trade, agribusiness, energy, transportation, logistics and communications.

Confirming the visit at a preparatory meeting in Accra, the First Secretary and Head of Economic and Development Cooperation at the Japanese Embassy in Ghana, Madam Junko Masuda, explained that the mission follows President John Dramani Mahama’s participation in the TICAD 9 Conference in Tokyo earlier this year.

According to her, the business mission will not only explore investment opportunities but also initiate discussions aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation, creating jobs and unlocking economic growth for both countries.

“This visit is very strategic. It reflects Japan’s commitment to supporting Ghana’s development agenda while also providing a platform for Japanese firms to expand into one of Africa’s most promising markets. We believe these engagements will lead to long-term partnerships, technology transfer and capacity building across multiple sectors,” Madam Masuda noted.

On the Ghanaian side, Chief Director of the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Mr Noah Tumfo, speaking on behalf of Minister Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, described the upcoming forum as timely and critical for Ghana’s economic transformation agenda.

He assured that the Ministry and its agencies are fully prepared to work closely with the Japanese Embassy to ensure smooth collaboration and effective facilitation of business-to-business partnerships.

“The government of Ghana views this as a major opportunity to showcase our investment climate and to strengthen economic diplomacy. We are committed to ensuring that these engagements translate into tangible outcomes for our industries and our people,” Mr Tumfo emphasised.

The Ghana–Japan Business and Investment Forum will provide a platform for companies from both countries to connect, attract investment capital and build lasting trade partnerships.

It will also highlight Ghana’s comparative advantages as a stable democracy with a growing economy, and Japan’s role as a global leader in technology, energy solutions and industrial development.
