Petrol, diesel prices to rise marginally from today

Petroleum prices are expected to increase marginally at the pumps from today, Wednesday, 1 October 2025, according to the latest pricing outlook sighted by The New Finder.
The report, issued by the Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC), indicates that petrol could go up by as much as 2.47 per cent per litre, pushing the average pump price to around GHS14.52.
Diesel is projected to rise between 1.36 and 3.41 per cent, potentially selling at GHS15.17 per litre.
Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) may also see an upward adjustment of between 2.01 and 4.01 per cent.
The expected increases are driven by rising international product prices and the continued depreciation of the Ghana cedi.
COMAC noted that the local currency weakened from GHS12.07 to GHS12.40 against the US dollar during the review period, representing a 2.74 per cent drop.
This brings total losses in the third quarter of 2025 to 15.09 per cent, with no gains recorded.
The chamber attributed the depreciation to limited forex supply and increased year-end imports, which continue to exert pressure on the cedi in Ghana’s import-heavy economy.
Crude oil prices also edged up slightly, with Brent crude rising by 1.57 per cent from USD67.39 to USD68.45 per barrel.
COMAC forecasts a rebound towards USD70 per barrel, citing renewed supply concerns and geopolitical tensions.
Major oil marketing companies including GOIL, Shell and Market Star Oil have already adjusted prices at the pumps since 23 September 2025.
It remains unclear whether another round of price hikes will be implemented this week.
