The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced a historic financial milestone, reporting GHS1.74 billion in revenue for July 2025, the highest monthly collection in the company’s history.
The achievement was disclosed by Julius Kpekpena, Acting Managing Director of ECG, during a briefing with the Parliamentary Energy Committee.
“This year, July, we had our highest-ever revenue that ECG collected, GHS1.74 billion. It’s a record and we want to celebrate that,” Mr Kpekpena stated, expressing pride in the utility’s performance.
While celebrating the record revenue, ECG is also prioritising customer service enhancements and internal reforms aimed at streamlining power connection and metering processes.
Mr Kpekpena acknowledged that customers in some districts and regions continue to experience delays and frustrations when applying for new power connections or metres.
He assured the committee that management is addressing these challenges by reviewing and upgrading internal systems.
“We want to reduce the frustrations applicants face in getting power supply or in getting metres. We know we have some issues in some of the districts and regions, and we are working to resolve those. But internally, we are working on those processes, and we are making progress,” Mr Kpekpena explained.
The Parliamentary Energy Committee commended ECG for the milestone and encouraged the utility to sustain the momentum by continuing its digital payment initiatives and loss-reduction programmes.
