GCB Bank warns public against fake ‘AfriQuantumX’ investment scam

GCB Bank PLC has cautioned customers and the general public to be on high alert after detecting a fraudulent social media post falsely advertising an investment scheme called “AfriQuantumX” as an official GCB product.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, 16 September 2025, the Bank firmly denied any association with the scheme, stressing that it has not launched any investment offering under the name “AfriQuantumX.”

“Do not click on the link, do not share any personal or banking details, and under no circumstances should funds be transferred in response to this post,” the Bank warned.

Call for Vigilance

GCB urged customers and the wider public to exercise extreme caution when engaging with unsolicited messages, links or offers.

The Bank advised anyone receiving such communications to verify their authenticity through official GCB channels before taking any action.

The statement emphasised that cyber fraud is on the rise, and criminals are increasingly using fake investment opportunities and phishing links to obtain sensitive personal and banking information.

Commitment to Customer Protection

“GCB Bank PLC remains dedicated to safeguarding our customers and combating the rise in cyber fraud. We urge the public to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity directly to the Bank,” the statement added.

GCB has also encouraged customers to contact its customer service lines or visit its official website for clarification on any questionable investment promotions or financial offers, reinforcing the Bank’s commitment to protecting the public against online scams and fraudulent schemes.
