Ghana Digital Centres hails govt’s drive to position nation as Africa’s tech hub

The Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Digital Centres Limited (GDCL), Ms Christine Ansong, has lauded the government’s strides in advancing digital innovation and positioning Ghana as a hub for Africa’s technology-driven economy.
Speaking at the close of the maiden West African edition of GITEX in Lagos, Nigeria, Ms Ansong said GDCL remains central to Ghana’s digital transformation drive through the incubation of start-ups, provision of Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) services and the creation of digital jobs for young people.
“At this year’s GITEX, we brought some of Ghana’s most promising start-ups to showcase their solutions.
“GITEX gives them what every young business needs: visibility, investors and the chance to grow beyond our borders. And so, if you are a Ghanaian tech start-up and you missed this year’s GITEX, I encourage you to join us at the next one,” she said.
Ms Ansong praised the platform for fostering collaboration and giving African start-ups global exposure.
“We want to commend GITEX for building such a powerful stage for collaboration across Africa and beyond,” she stated.
Ms Ansong further noted that Ghana’s broader digital agenda, spearheaded by the Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation, is charting a path for the country to become a leader in Artificial Intelligence and digital solutions in Africa.
She emphasised that partnerships, investments and platforms such as GITEX are critical to enabling Ghanaian start-ups to compete internationally.
The Lagos edition of GITEX brought together innovators, investors, policymakers and entrepreneurs from across the continent, offering a launchpad for emerging businesses to scale up and contribute to Africa’s digital economy.
