20-year-old man stabbed to death over plastic chair in Kumasi

A 20-year-old man, Kwadwo Bright, has been stabbed to death following an alleged fight over a plastic chair at Ashanti New Town in Kumasi.
The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Thursday, 4 September 2025, reportedly began at a snooker game centre where Kwadwo and a friend, now suspected to be the attacker, both claimed ownership of the chair.
Although witnesses say the initial dispute was resolved, the suspect allegedly confronted Kwadwo later and stabbed him in the neck.
Speaking to the media, the victim’s mother, Georgina Yeboah, described the devastating moment she learned of her son’s attack.
“I heard people screaming about a young man being stabbed and rushed to the scene, only to find my son in a critical state. Although the matter was reportedly settled, the suspect later attacked and stabbed Kwadwo in the neck, leading to his death this morning,” she recounted.
Kwadwo was rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Police are yet to issue an official statement on the incident, but investigations are ongoing to track down the suspect.
