Mohammed Kudus looks ahead to international break after Spurs’ first defeat By Lukman MUMIN
Ghana ace Mohammed Kudus has turned his attention to the upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Mali following Tottenham Hotspur’s defeat to Bournemouth in the Premier League on Saturday.
Kudus and his Spurs teammates struggled after conceding an early goal from Evanilson, as the Cherries left Tottenham Stadium with maximum points.
Despite the disappointment, Kudus believes it is time to take a break and reset as the players embark on international duty.
“I think playing for your country is also a massive part of us being players, representing your nation. So it’s very, very important to me,” Kudus said after the game.
“I think after today’s loss, it’s good to take a break to refresh our minds and come back ready again,” he added.
Kudus has been outstanding since joining Spurs in the summer transfer window, delivering a masterful performance on his Premier League debut for the club. He provided two assists in Spurs’ 3-0 victory over Burnley and had earlier troubled PSG in the UEFA Super Cup.
Meanwhile, the Black Stars travel to N’Djamena to play Chad on 4 September before hosting Mali in Accra four days later.
Ghana needs victories in both matches to secure their place at the World Cup in North America next year.
