Lil Win condemns media for overlooking his award-nominated film

Kumawood actor and producer Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lil Win, has expressed disappointment over what he describes as the deliberate neglect of his latest film, ‘Captain Ibrahim Traoré: The Last African Hero,’ by Ghanaian media.

In a video posted on social media after the movie’s second screening at the Eusbett Hotel Cinema in Sunyani on Saturday, 16 August 2025, the popular comedian was seen standing beside a customised 2024 RAM 1500 decorated with posters of the film.

He accused major television stations and entertainment platforms of refusing to give his project the attention it deserves.

According to Lil Win, he monitored several entertainment shows across the country between Friday, 22 August and Sunday, 24 August, but found no discussions about the movie.

“Even with the international nominations, no national television station has talked about my movie,” he lamented.

The film, inspired by the young Burkinabe leader Ibrahim Traoré, has already been nominated for Best Movie in Africa at the Switzerland Festival Awards.

Lil Win insists that such an international feat should have been celebrated locally.
