The Vice President, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has commended the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC) for its adaptability in addressing emerging security threats in the sub-region.

Speaking at the College’s graduation ceremony, where she delivered the keynote address as Chairperson of the Armed Forces Council, Professor Opoku-Agyemang praised the institution for introducing new disciplines and programmes designed to help officers analyse global events and anticipate conflicts.

“The introduction of the Multi-Domain Operations and Future Wars modules in the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College is timely, given the evolving nature of contemporary security threats,” she said.

Professor Opoku-Agyemang further applauded the inclusion of digitisation and cybersecurity in the curriculum, stressing government’s commitment to supporting the institution.

“With the role that technology is now playing in shaping the trajectory of modern security operations in the battle space, digitisation awareness and cybersecurity issues are also welcome in the curriculum,” she stressed.

The Vice President reaffirmed government’s resolve to expand educational opportunities in the defence sector, noting that the Command and Staff College must remain well-resourced to train the next generation of military leaders.

Despite a steady rise in enrolment, she said the College has continued to uphold high academic standards.

“The ability to make informed strategic decisions is essential in today’s complex security landscape,” she emphasised, highlighting the importance of the training being offered to future officers.

Professor Opoku-Agyemang congratulated the 135 graduating officers, who completed programmes in Defence, International Affairs, and Security Studies, and urged them to demonstrate integrity and adaptability as they assume higher responsibilities.
