Former GPL Champions Set for Nsenkyire Cup in Sambreboi

A trio of former Ghana Premier League champions has confirmed participation in this year’s Nsenkyire Cup, scheduled to take place at the Nsenkyire Stadium in Sambreboi.
Aduana Stars, Medeama SC, and reigning league winners FC Samartex 1996 will headline the pre-season tournament, which runs from Thursday, August 28 to Sunday, August 31.
Samartex clinched the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League title, following Medeama’s 2022/23 triumph, while Aduana remain two-time champions of the top flight.
The six-team competition will also feature Basake Holy Stars, Nations FC, and Dreams FC. Samartex, Aduana, and Basake have been drawn into Group A, with Nations FC, Medeama, and Dreams FC competing in Group B.
Medeama recently sharpened their preparations with friendlies in Côte d’Ivoire against FC Mouna and Entente Sportive Bafing. Host side Samartex are also set to face Aduana and Nations in Week 3 and Week 4 of the upcoming 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season.
