Woman allegedly shot by husband over suspected infidelity in Assin North
A 35-year-old woman, Faustina Ackom, is fighting for her life after allegedly being shot by her husband over suspected infidelity at Anum in the Assin North District of the Central Region.
The suspect, 41-year-old Wahibu Bukari, reportedly confronted his wife at around 12:30 a.m. after discovering phone numbers on her mobile phone, which he claimed were linked to extramarital affairs.
During the heated argument that followed, he allegedly shot her in the left arm and breast as she tried to flee.
Ms Ackom, a mother of four, was rushed to St Xavier Hospital in Assin Fosu, where she is currently receiving treatment.
Eyewitnesses said they heard the victim screaming for help at around 1:00 a.m. One neighbour, Lydia Yeboah, stated that the suspect, who had been unwell for some time, had long accused his wife of being unfaithful.
Following the attack, the husband fled the scene. Residents suspect he may be hiding in nearby towns such as Assin Fosu, Kushia or Twifo Praso. A police team from the Assin Fosu Divisional Command has since visited the victim at the hospital to assess her condition and gather information as investigations continue.
