GFA mourns military helicopter crash victims

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has expressed deep sorrow following Wednesday’s tragic military helicopter crash, which claimed the lives of eight people, including senior government and security officials.
In a statement, the GFA extended its condolences to President John Mahama, the Government of Ghana, and the affected families, describing the incident as a painful national loss.
Among those confirmed dead are Dr. Edward Omane Boamah (Minister of Defence), Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed (Minister of Environment), Alhaji Muniru Mohammed (Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator), Dr. Samuel Sarpong (Vice Chairman of the NDC), and Mr. Samuel Aboagye, a former parliamentary candidate.
The Association also paid tribute to the crew members who lost their lives: Squadron Leader Peter Anala, Flying Officer Twum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo.
“The GFA mourns the nation’s collective grief and pays tribute to the dedication and service of all these gallant men who perished in the line of duty,” the statement read.
The Executive Council and the entire football fraternity stand in solidarity with the bereaved families, offering support and prayers as the country comes to terms with the tragedy.
