By: Solomon Nartey Tetteh

The Government has announced plans to undertake major infrastructure projects in Ada, focusing on road construction, market rehabilitation, and improved access to potable water.

The announcement was made on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama by Deputy Chief of Staff for Administration, Nana Oye Bampoe Addo, during the 88th Asafotufiami Festival celebration in Ada.

She stated that under the Government’s “Big Push” initiative and the “24-Hour Plus Economy” policy, USD13.8 billion has been committed to road and infrastructure development across the country.

According to her, the Finance Minister revealed in the Mid-Year Budget Review that 5,000 kilometers of roads across 166 constituencies will be reconstructed over the next three years.

Ms. Bampoe Addo emphasized the Government’s awareness of Ada’s pressing infrastructure needs, particularly concerning key roads such as Kasseh to Ada Foah, Ada Foah to Togbokpe, Togbloku to Aminapah/Medie, and Kasseh to Assigbeykope.

She underscored the economic importance of the roads from Kasseh to Ada Foah and from Ada Foah to Totope, describing them as critical for boosting local commerce.

In addition to roadworks, she stated that markets in Ada Foah and Kasseh would be urgently rehabilitated.

“Under the 24-Hour Economy policy, each District Assembly receives $1 million annually through the Common Fund. Part of this funding is allocated for constructing modern markets and rehabilitating older ones to improve storage facilities and encourage both day and night trading,” she explained.

The Deputy Chief of Staff for Administration affirmed the Government’s continued commitment to resolving community-specific challenges, particularly those impacting farmers and fishermen, through the provision of industrial support facilities

Ms. Bampoe Addo told residents that the area would receive increased attention under President Mahama’s leadership, noting that Government is working to resolve longstanding supply challenges.

“In April 2025, during an Executive Ministerial Leadership Retreat in Ada, MP Madam Comfort Doyoe Ghansah toured an ongoing water project with the Minister of Works and Housing, the National Chairman of the NDC, the District Chief Executive, and the Assembly Member for the Pute Electoral Area,” she noted. She assured residents that urgent action would be taken to resolve water issues in several communities, including Otimekope, Ocanseykope, Mataheko, Anyakpo, Adedetsekope, Suntsokpa, Patukope, Elevanyo, Pute, and Totopey.
