Ghana set to host Africa Oil Week 2025
The country is poised to take center stage in Africa’s energy narrative as it prepares to host Africa Oil Week (AOW): Investing in African Energy 2025, a landmark event expected to redefine the continent’s energy trajectory and boost investment across West Africa.
Scheduled for September 15 to 18, 2025, in Accra, the summit is set to serve as a catalyst for economic growth, energy sector reforms, and strategic partnerships in alignment with Ghana’s renewed national development agenda.
Leading preparations is the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), under the leadership of newly appointed CEO Mr. Kwame Ntow Amoah, who has affirmed the country’s readiness to harness the summit’s opportunities for national and regional transformation.
“We are thrilled to host AOW:Energy this September in Ghana. This summit arrives at a crucial moment for our nation and the subregion as we enter a new era of energy-driven economic growth. We are confident that AOW:Energy will pave the way for groundbreaking investments, policy reforms, and strategic collaborations,” Mr. Amoah stated.
Energy at the Core of Ghana’s Economic Agenda
The summit aligns closely with President John Dramani Mahama’s development vision, which places energy at the heart of Ghana’s growth strategy. The administration’s push for a 24-hour economy depends heavily on reliable, sustainable, and affordable energy to support industries, services, and infrastructure.
AOW:Energy 2025 is expected to mobilize significant capital into the country’s upstream and midstream energy sectors while spurring deal-making across Africa. The summit will draw top executives from global energy firms, national oil companies, investors, and policymakers for high-level discussions on investment, technology, and sustainability.
Marking Key Milestones in Ghana’s Petroleum Journey
This year marks two milestones in Ghana’s oil and gas evolution: GNPC’s 40th anniversary and 15 years of production from the Jubilee Field. These achievements highlight Ghana’s progress and set the stage for deeper exploration, particularly in the Keta and Voltaian Basins, which are expected to unlock new reserves.
“This is a moment to reimagine our energy future, build strategic alliances, and develop new frontiers that will serve our country and the region,” Mr. Amoah stated.
A Continental Platform for Regional Growth
Though Ghana is the host, AOW:Energy 2025 aims to strengthen West Africa’s entire energy ecosystem. The event will feature participation from African national oil companies, regional regulators, and multilateral organizations including the African Union, APPO, NUPRC, and AFRIPERF.
“This partnership between AOW:Energy and GNPC is more than a national affair. It’s a continental movement. Together, we are creating a platform that prioritizes innovation, inclusivity, and sustainability across Africa’s energy landscape,” said an AOW representative.
