Black Queens midfielder Jennifer Cudjoe eyes bronze medal after Morocco defeat

Black Queens midfielder Jennifer Cudjoe has shifted her focus to the third-place match against South Africa following the team’s semi-final loss to Morocco.

Ghana were denied a place in the final after suffering a 4-2 defeat in a penalty shootout against the hosts in Rabat on Tuesday.

The Black Queens, who were hoping to reach the final for the first time since 2006, saw their dreams dashed after Evelyn Badu and Comfort Yeboah missed from the spot following a 1-1 draw after 120 minutes.

Ghana opened the scoring through Stella Nyamekye in the first half before Sakina Ouzraoui equalized for Morocco in the second half.

Cudjoe, one of the standout performers on the night, expressed pride in the team and hopes to end the tournament with a bronze medal.

“I am just proud of the team because we did not give up. We proved to everyone that we can do something, and hopefully in our last game, we can win a medal,” she said after the match.

The Black Queens will renew their rivalry with South Africa in the bronze medal game on Saturday after losing their opening match to the same opponents.
