Chef Abbys, London Mayor unite to celebrate Ghanaian-British culinary heritage

Renowned Ghanaian culinary star Chef Abbys joined the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, in a special cooking session held in Accra as part of the Mayor’s official visit to Ghana under the UK Africa Mission.

The session, which also featured celebrated Ghanaian chef Chef Abiro, was organized by the Ghana Food Movement with support from the UK in Ghana. It aimed to promote cross-cultural collaboration and strengthen ties between the United Kingdom and Africa through trade, investment, and cultural exchange.

Held at a symbolic venue in Accra, the event brought together Ghanaian and British culinary traditions, with chefs preparing and sharing dishes that celebrated the rich flavors of both nations.

The cooking session highlighted food as a powerful vehicle for cultural diplomacy and heritage preservation.

“This experience means so much to me, not just as a chef, but as a storyteller and advocate for African food. I am grateful to have been part of this moment and remain committed to pushing African cuisine onto the global stage, one plate at a time,” Chef Abbys shared.
