Ghana football is not dead — GFA Vice President

By Lukman MUMIN
Following the massive turnout at the President Cup last Sunday, the Vice President of the Ghana Football Association, Mark Addo, has rejected claims that the country’s football is dead.
The Accra Sports Stadium was filled to capacity when the two most glamorous clubs in the country, Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko, locked horns in the President Cup showdown.
In a high-stakes match, the Porcupine Warriors triumphed over the Phobians 2-1 to annex a record-extending ninth President Cup title.
Inspired by the massive support, Mr. Addo, who was in attendance, downplayed the perception that Ghana football is dead.
“The President Cup went extremely well. From the look of things, people still like watching good football, as displayed in the Kotoko-Hearts encounter. For me, the notion that our football is dead has been quashed,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mr. Addo has turned attention to the upcoming 2025/26 football campaign, which kicks off in September 2025.
“Overall, we’ve concluded the season well and are looking forward to the new season, which begins in September,” he added.
