Mahama pledges a Ghana where no one is above the law

President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his commitment to building a just, accountable, and inclusive Ghana, one in which the rule of law reigns supreme and no individual, regardless of position or privilege, is placed above legal scrutiny.

Speaking during the Muslim session of the 2025 National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving in Accra, President Mahama underscored the need to restore faith in national institutions and uphold the principle of equality before the law. The interfaith gathering, held to reflect on the country’s progress and seek divine guidance, followed a similar Christian observance earlier in the day.

“I remain committed to building a Ghana where no one is above the law. Our institutions must function with integrity, and justice must never be the privilege of the powerful alone. It must be the right of every Ghanaian,” President Mahama said.

The President’s remarks, delivered before a congregation of Muslim clerics, government officials, and members of the public, emphasized the importance of good governance, transparency, and civic trust. He noted that the effectiveness of Ghana’s democracy depends not only on free elections but also on strong institutions that serve all citizens fairly.

President Mahama also addressed concerns about the equitable use of public resources, pledging to ensure that Ghana’s wealth is shared in a manner that uplifts the entire population, not just a privileged few.

“Public resources benefit all of us and not a few people. If we want to achieve real progress as a nation, we must ensure our national wealth works for everyone, particularly our youth, our women, and our rural communities,” he stated.

In closing, President Mahama appealed to all Ghanaians, regardless of political or religious affiliation, to embrace a shared vision of justice, responsibility, and national renewal.

He urged: “Together, let us build a country where justice is blind to status, and fairness defines our path forward.”
