Nvidia insiders cash out over $1bn as AI hype peaks

Top executives and insiders at Nvidia have sold more than USD1 billion worth of company stock over the past year, with more than half of that total offloaded just this month, according to a new report.
The surge in insider selling comes as Nvidia’s share price hits record highs, fueled by frenzied investor enthusiasm surrounding artificial intelligence (AI).
The report notes a significant uptick in selling activity among company insiders, including CEO Jensen Huang, who began selling shares this week for the first time since September, according to recent filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
More than USD500 million in Nvidia stock has been sold by insiders in June alone, coinciding with a dramatic rise in the company’s valuation. On Wednesday, Nvidia briefly became the world’s most valuable company, reclaiming the top spot amid predictions that the chipmaker is poised to ride a “Golden Wave” of AI innovation.
Nvidia’s meteoric rise has been central to the broader AI-driven rally that has dominated U.S. markets in recent years. The company’s advanced graphics processing units (GPUs) have become essential for AI model training and deployment, positioning Nvidia as a bellwether for investor sentiment in the sector.
The stock has gained over 60 percent since April 4, when markets dipped in response to renewed global tariff threats from former U.S. President Donald Trump. Since then, optimism over potential trade de-escalation and AI-led growth has reignited Wall Street’s risk appetite, sending tech stocks soaring.
While insider sales do not necessarily signal trouble, they are closely monitored as potential indicators of executive confidence. Nvidia has not commented on the reported insider activity.
Investors are now watching for any signs that the current AI exuberance may be overheating, or whether the stock’s momentum can be sustained through earnings season and potential macroeconomic headwinds. As of Friday’s close, Nvidia shares remained near their all-time high, bolstered by strong demand forecasts and widespread belief that AI represents a transformative force in global technology and productivity.
