Mbappe brings more than goals to Real Madrid says Xabi Alonso

Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso has praised French superstar Kylian Mbappe, saying he’s vital to the team beyond his prolific goal-scoring. Mbappe recently scored four against Olympiacos in the Champions League and has 23 goals in 19 games this season. He’s called for team unity as Madrid struggles for consistency under Alonso.

‎”He’s been very good individually, helping the team a lot,” Alonso said. “It’s not just about goals for Kylian, which is the most important thing, but he does other hugely fundamental things like leadership, influence, and helping his teammates.”

‎Madrid are a point behind Barcelona after a third consecutive La Liga draw. Speculation surrounds Alonso’s future if results don’t improve, but he remains positive after speaking with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez.

‎”The conversations are very positive, wanting to improve results,” Alonso said. “We’ve lacked consistency in our game and want to play better. We’ve lost a bit of quality and energy.”
