Wa notorious robbers jailed after string of attacks

The Upper West Regional Police Command has secured the conviction and sentencing of two men described as notorious criminals responsible for a wave of armed robberies across the Wa Municipality.
The convicts, Abdulai Ibrahim, alias Baba, a 34-year-old driver’s mate, and Abdulai Kipo, a 36-year-old butcher, were sentenced by the Wa Circuit Court to 28 and 18 years respectively with hard labor for conspiracy to commit robbery and multiple counts of robbery.
The judgment was handed down by His Honour Jonathan Avoogo on Tuesday, following a successful prosecution anchored on weeks of coordinated intelligence-led investigations by the Regional Police Intelligence Directorate.
According to police sources, the duo was linked to a series of violent robberies in communities such as Napogbakole, Danko, SSNIT, and Konta—all within the Wa Municipality. The attacks, which involved the use of offensive weapons, left several victims traumatized and prompted an intensive manhunt by security operatives.
“The arrest and successful prosecution of these individuals is a testament to the tireless work of our intelligence teams and patrol officers who risk their lives daily to ensure public safety,” the Regional Police Command said in a statement released after the court ruling.
The statement added that the police are working closely with residents to clamp down on criminal elements operating in the region and reassured the public of its resolve to maintain peace and order. “The Upper West Regional Police Command reaffirms its determination to make the region safe for peaceful coexistence and will continue to work tirelessly to combat crime and protect its residents,” it said.
