Mahama sets up committee to drive economic dialogue reforms

President John Dramani Mahama has announced the establishment of an inter-ministerial implementation committee to ensure the effective and transparent execution of key recommendations arising from the 2025 National Economic Dialogue.

Speaking at Jubilee House on Wednesday, June 4, during the official presentation of the Dialogue’s final report, President Mahama revealed that an executive directive will be issued in the coming days to formally constitute the committee, which will be tasked with coordinating all government actions tied to the dialogue outcomes.

“In the coming days, I will issue an executive directive establishing an inter-ministerial implementation committee to coordinate all actions flowing from the dialogue report,” the President announced.

He explained that the committee will comprise representatives from key ministries and include observer roles for civil society organisations and the private sector to guarantee accountability, inclusiveness, and transparency.

The committee is expected to publish its first implementation bulletin by August 2025.

President Mahama emphasised the symbolic and strategic significance of the dialogue report, describing it as a national compact that reflects shared aspirations and a call to action.

“The final report of the National Economic Dialogue is more than just a policy document. It is a covenant between the government and the governed, between evidence and action, and between vision and results,” he said.

He praised Ghanaians for their faith in the dialogue process and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to deliver on its promises with urgency and integrity.

“We asked Ghanaians to trust this process, and you did. Today, I reaffirm our end of the commitment. We will implement these reforms with honesty, urgency, and discipline. We will govern not in secrecy but in openness. We will place national interest above every narrow consideration,” the President added. The 2025 National Economic Dialogue brought together economists, business leaders, policymakers, academics, and civil society groups to develop a roadmap for sustainable economic reform, debt management, job creation, and inclusive growth.
