Ghana Tourism Authority opens call for ‘December in GH 2025’ event proposals
The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), under the coordination of its International Affairs Secretariat, has officially opened the call for event proposals for the 2025 edition of December in GH — the nation’s flagship end-of-year tourism initiative that highlights Ghana’s cultural richness, entertainment dynamism, and renowned hospitality.
Scheduled to run from December 1, 2025, to January 3, 2026, this year’s celebration is expected to be the most exhilarating yet, continuing the tradition of showcasing Ghana as Africa’s ultimate destination for culture, heritage, entertainment, and diaspora reconnection.
Speaking on the significance of the initiative, GTA CEO Maame Efua Houadjeto emphasized that:
“December in GH is more than a festive celebration — it is a movement that showcases Ghana’s vibrant spirit to the world. As we embrace the Black Star Experience, we are setting the stage for our biggest December season yet. We look forward to innovative events that will elevate Ghana’s place as a leading destination for culture, entertainment, and heritage tourism.”
The month-long season — now recognized globally for its curated mix of music, art, fashion, nightlife, and heritage events — attracts thousands of tourists and members of the Ghanaian diaspora annually. It serves as both a homecoming and a cultural pilgrimage, a time when Ghanaians abroad and global citizens reconnect with Africa’s heartbeat.
“It’s a time when the global diaspora comes home to experience Ghana — its culture, warmth, entertainment, food, and welcoming spirit,”
said Annabelle McKenzie, Director of the International Affairs Secretariat.
“We’re excited to work with event organisers who bring fresh ideas and energy to December in GH. This year will have an even greater impact as we invite the world to be part of the Black Star Experience during one of the most vibrant times of the year.”
To maintain and enhance the vibrancy of the December in GH calendar, the GTA is inviting event organisers, promoters, and cultural curators to submit proposals for events that will take place during the period. These events should contribute to a diverse and engaging programme spanning multiple sectors, including music, art, fashion, culinary experiences, and cultural exploration.

Selected events may be featured in the official December in GH 2025 calendar and could receive support in terms of promotion and partnership opportunities to boost visibility both locally and internationally. As Ghana prepares to once again command the global spotlight this December, the GTA is calling on creatives, entrepreneurs, and cultural stakeholders to shape a festive season that proudly reflects the nation’s enduring legacy — and its future — as a Black Star of global culture and tourism.
